Introduction to The Dharma Institute (TDI)

The Tibetan Buddhist Institute (TDI) was founded in 2011, stemming from the wish of a practitioner who wanted a place to host and invite Tibetan Masters to teach Vajrayana teachings in Houston, Texas. Since then, TDI has had the honor of welcoming many Masters, from His Holiness to Rinpoches, Khenpos, and Lamas, to visit, confer empowerments, and teach Vajrayana teachings. In addition to the teachings, the center also organizes retreats and study programs for the community.

In February 2, on a cold winter day, the strong desire to propagate the Dharma in the mind of the founder of TDI Buddhist Institute was further deepened when he received ordination at Dorje Drak Monastery (Simla, India), under the recognition and blessing of His Holiness Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche. Since then, with the Dharma name Ani Dechen Zangmo, he has taken on the mission of a monk. Through many years of training under the guidance of Nyingma and Drikung Kagyu masters, along with regular retreats at monasteries in Tibet and India, Ani Dechen has been guiding TDI to develop into a hermitage-based Vajrayana monastery.

Today, TDI Buddhist Institute is not only a place to organize daily group meditation sessions, lectures and teachings, but also a place to help practitioners concentrate on the process of liberation, with the ultimate goal of reaching the Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha. We hope that the practice of each practitioner at TDI will bring great benefits to all sentient beings, helping them to find the path of liberation from suffering and the cycle of birth and death.
